World Osteoporosis Day
World Osteoporosis Day is celebrated on October 20 every year, and is an occasion to raise awareness about the importance of bone health , especially among women who are considered more vulnerable to osteoporosis, a silent disease that causes bones to become weak, brittle and easily broken.
Osteoporosis is often detected after a fracture. As we age, bone health becomes more important, especially for women, who experience a decline in bone density after menopause, due to lower levels of the hormone estrogen, which plays an important role in maintaining bone strength .
