Fakeeh University Hospital Honours Breast Cancer Survivors with #HopewithFUH Breast Cancer Awareness Initiative
With joint efforts towards promoting breast health education and breast cancer prevention, Fakeeh University Hospital commits to bring a positive change in the health statistics of Dubai. With the aim to of raising the bar and providing a platform for those diagnosed/cured to speak their victory, in presence of Sheikha Sana Al Maktoum, we honoured 7 strong survivors. These strong women shared their stories of survival, strength & change to encourage other women to get themselves screened at an early stage.
Fakeeh University Hospital has played a humble role in the journey of these women, by providing them the right diagnosis, treatment and supporting them and their families. With the most advanced technologies and globally renowned doctors, we have given women with breast cancer a hope to lead a better life, a chance at their future, and a pathway to improved health outcomes.
With 1 in 8 women being diagnosed with the condition in their lifetime, breast cancer is the most common type of cancer in women. Research shows that the average age of diagnosis in the UAE is 10 years younger than anywhere else in the world. As a healthcare destination that is Made for Dubai, we realise the urgent need and importance to cater to the growing healthcare needs of the community and region we serve.
In line with our commitment to mirror Dubai’s healthcare goals, and accommodate the region’s healthcare requirements, we encourage women who are 40 years and above to screen themselves early on for Breast Cancer. While the hospital building is lit pink every day to commemorate the month of October, amongst other monumental architectures in the world, various other awareness initiatives have been partaken at the ground level, including talks with communities, schools, parent associations, corporates, charitable organisations, and more.
